Rehashed run 1825 - Tony and Sexy Chan - 22/12/09

Rehashed Run No: 1825; Hares: Tony Tay (Killer Tony) & Chan Nyok Lan (Sexy Chan); Date: 22nd December, 2009; Venue: Ayer Panas, Bemban.

Accompanying The Hare To Set An Enjoyable Medium Run

Killer Tony is a veteran hasher who is one of the 2 current Joint Masters of Malacca Hash House Harriers. Sexy Chan is a devoted hasher who is a current Committee Member of Malacca Hash House Harrier. Come yesterday which coincided with the yearly Chinese Winter Festival, it was their joint run on rotation. Owing to their popularity and generosity, it had attracted a big turnout of some 40 hashers who included a number of hashers from other chapters.

It was a cool Tuesday afternoon. As invited by the hares earlier, my partner and I arrived at the run site early to accompany them to set the running trail without recce. Whilst there, we met Sexy Chan, 4896, Super 96 and Kacang Panjang. Killer Tony was not there as he was attending the funeral of his beloved demised mother. Our heartiest condolences to him and his family.
It was at 3.30 pm that we started the paper laying trip after parking our cars at the entrance of abandoned Golden Valley Golf Club along the Bemban – Kesang Pajak Road and equipping ourselves with a GPS, 2 knives, a bag of shredded white papers and a few bottles of drinking water. Led by Kacang Panjang, the paper led southwest into a matured oil palm plantation, abreast a lake and turned a short distance southward for some 25 minutes before the first and only simple check was set at a cross junction. Its connecting paper was placed beside an oil palm tree on the left upslope a short distance ahead.

The paper continued to be set eastward up and down 2 small hills and across a small stream for another 20 minutes before the first tricky false trail was placed a short distance up a mild hill slope. Its connecting paper was placed some 100 metres ahead of the back trail northeastward.

For the purpose of slowing down the FRB such as Ranger, GM Dennis the Menace, Dr. Pandyarajah and Govind, the paper trail was then set downhill and uphill northward into a thick bush, and downhill and uphill again into another thick bush eastward for some 30 minutes before the second and last trickier false trail was placed on a path. Its connecting paper was placed on the left northward some 100 metres away on the back trail. From then on, the paper continued to be set northward through the bush for a short distance before arriving at the motorway of the abandoned Golden Valley Golf Club building where it was set on the tarred road towards the home trail. Half way through it, as it was still early before the run started at 6.00 pm and we did not want the runners to know our exiting home trail, we stopped setting the paper trail by turning left into the oil palm plantation towards the in-trail and arrived some 200 metres near the run site at 5.40 pm where we hid behind some bushes. In the absence of GM Dennis the Menace who was busy with his work, it was then that we saw a big pack of runners starting their run before the scheduled time. We arrived back at the run site at 6.00 pm where we met Gilbert Chee, Baby Elephant and Bombastic, showed them the home trail and sought the assistance of Bombastic to join the paper on the tarred road when they started their run from the back trail. While on our way back in the oil palm plantation, we met early birds Orang Kaya Ngoh and Debbie who were enjoying their leisure stroll from the opposite direction.

It was an enjoyable medium run of some 7 km in this rarely patronized run site which took us some 2 hours to set. The first early birds to come back at 6.30 pm were none other than Orang Kaya Ngoh and Debbie. And the first scheduled runner who took 47 minutes to complete the run was Ranger followed closely by Dr. Pandyarajah and Govind. The last runners were back at 7.30 pm when the sky began to fall dark. Among them were SYT, Helen Of Troy, Gobalakrishnan Taekwando and Leela.

In the absence of GM Dennis the Menace and JM Killer Tony, a short and sweet hash circle was conducted by me as the second JM. A few sinners who included the hare, first runner and a guest were put on ice and on-downed. It was then announced by Bulldozer from Batu Pahat Full Moon Hash that its committee run would be held at Tongkang Pechah, Batu Pahat on 1st January, 2010. Hashers are invited to join it. Do not hesitate to give your support by joining it, fellow hashers! See you there.

On In was held at the Hikeng Restaurant in downtown Melaka Raya. It was well-attended by some 40 hungry hashers who included GM Dennis the Menace, JM Killer Tony and a few guests. A delicious 6-course Chinese dinner was served. Another on-downed session was conducted by GM Dennis the Menace who would be a single man for another 3 days only before the return of his other half, Carol the Twin Towers, who was away on holiday. It saw a big number of sinners being on-downed. It was then announced by GM Dennis the Menace that JM Killer Tony had donated RM 500.00 to MH3 in conjunction with the demise of his beloved mother. The food was on the hares. A big thanks. It was at around 10.30 pm that the pack started to disperse.

See you at the coming Christmas Run of Christian Connection on 29th December, 2009 which is a boat-ride run along the Malacca River starting from the Customs Complex, Melaka Raya to Taman Rempah, Mata Kuching and back. It is a unique run which you are sure to enjoy. So make sure you attend it, fellow hashers! See you there.

Merry Christmas!

On! On!

Rehashed run 1824 - Gobal and Leela - 15/12/09

Rehashed Run No: 1824; Hares: Gobalakrishnan (Gobal Taekwando) & Leela; Date: 15th December, 2009; Venue: Gangsa.

An Enjoyable Short Run

Gobalakrishnan is a taekwando instructor and an avid runner who has been running with Malacca Hash House Harriers with his other half Leela for a number of years. As scheduled, come last Tuesday it was their turn as hares. As expected, it had attracted a big turnout of some 40 hashers.

Gangsa is an ideal hashing run site with mild terrains and shady oil palm plantation situated on the outskirt of Malacca City. As such, it used to attract a big number of hash runs there.
It was a cloudy and cool Tuesday afternoon. On my early arrival there by the side of Ayer Keroh – Sungai Udang Highway with my partner, we met early birds Dr. Pandyarajah and Oil Rig Lim. A short while later, we saw the sudden appearance of a pack of 5 hashers led by the hares from the northern fringe of the oil palm plantation with muddy shoes and bodies. The other 3 were Mary Josephine, her son and a guest. Understandably, they had just emerged from setting the running trail. On being asked, Gobalakrishnan said that it was a short run with 4 checks which took them some 2 hours to set the trail with 2 recces. That relieved our tension greatly. In spite of that, it did not deter us from starting the run as early birds.

It was at 5.05 pm that Dr. Pandyarajah, Oil Rig Lim, my partner and I started our run as early birds instead of banging balls there while waiting for it to start at 6.00 pm. Led by Dr. Pandyarajah, we followed the paper trail which led south on the tarred road for a short distance before turning left into a bushy path. It was another short distance away that it turned left upslope into a mature oil palm plantation. It then meandered for some 10 minutes before hitting the first simple check at a cross junction. Its connecting paper was found by Dr. Pandyarajah some 100 metres ahead a short while later after a spread-out search. As early birds, we did not join the check.

The paper then meandered eastward across a drain on an undulating terrain for another some 15 minutes before hitting the second simple check at another cross junction. Again its connecting paper was found by Dr. Pandyarajah some 100 metres away on the left a short while later after another spread-out search.

The paper continued to meander eastward, northward and westward abreast the Gangsa - Durian Tunggal Road and across another drain for another some 20 minutes before hitting the third simple check at another cross junction. Its connecting paper was found by Oil Rig Lim a short distance ahead after another spread-out search. On the way, it started to rain with thunder for some 10 minutes which made our bodies wet.

The forth and last simple check was set at a T-junction after some 10 minutes’ stroll. Its connecting paper was found by me a short distance away on the left southward a short while later. It was then that we were being caught up by Pecker who took the shortcut after seeing us from the in-trail nearby. From then on, it was another some 10 minutes stroll before arriving at the run site at 6.35 pm where a big pack of non-runners, back trailers and SCB were enjoying their drinks.

It was a short and comfortable run of some 6 km through the friendly and shady terrain of mature oil palm plantation with a few drains which are avoidable through the nearby bridges which took us some 1 ½ hours to complete. The first scheduled runner was back at 6.42 pm. He was none other than avid runner Ranger. The last runner was back at around 7.10 pm when the sky was till bright. Clearly missing from the run was avid runner GM Dennis the Menace who was away on work in Kuala Lumpur.

Hash Circle was conducted by JM Killer Tony in the absence of GM Dennis the Menace. It saw a number of sinners including the hares being put on ice and on-downed.

On In was held at an Indian Restaurant in the nearby Batu Berendam. In attendance were some 40 hashers who included our ever-industrious GM Dennis the Menace who rushed back from Kuala Lumpur to be with us and see that we were in good order. A delicious banana-leaf Indian dinner was served with Teh Tarik. Another on-downed session was conducted. This time it was by GM Dennis the Menace which saw a bigger number of sinners being on-downed with glasses of cold Tiger beer. The food was on the hares. Thanks for the good run and good food. It ended at around 10.00 pm when we called it a night.

See you at the coming joint run of JM Killer Tony and Sexy Chan at Ayer Panas, Bemban on 22nd December, 2009, fellow hashers! You are assured to enjoy it fully!

Rehashed run 1823 - Pramjit & Ederjit

Rehashed Run No: 1823; Hares: Pramjit Singh & Ederjit Kaur;
Date: 8th December, 2009; Venue: Simpang Ampat, Alor Gajah.

A Challenging Hilly & Bushy Run

Pramjit Singh and Ederjit Kaur is a loving couple and devoted hashers who have been running with Malacca Hash House Harriers for a number of years. Come last Tuesday, it was their joint run on rotation which had unexpectedly participated by a smaller number of some 20 odd runners rather than a normal bigger number of 40 runners due the year-end holiday season.

It was a sunny Tuesday afternoon. As usual, longing for a good sweat-out and socializing with fellow hashers after returning from a week-long holiday trip in Yunnan, China, my partner and I arrived at the virgin run site beside an Indian Temple in Simpang Ampat, Alor Gajah which is some 40 km north of Malacca city. As expected, only 3 cars belonging to the hare, co-hare Utom Singh and runner Dr. Pandyarajah were seen there. Other then Dr. Pandyarajah who was seen changing his dress while preparing for the run, there were no sight of the hares and co-hare. Understandably, they must have left earlier to set the running trail.

As usual, as oldies and slow runners who are scared of being left behind and get lost, my partner and I started our run as early birds at 5.10 pm by following the paper which led north on a wide laterite road. A short distance ahead, it turned right across a barbed wire fencing, the Patronas underground gas piping passageway and another barbed wire fencing before entering and meandering through a bushy and undulating secondary jungle for some 40 minutes where it hit the first complicated false trail on top of a hill slope. It was then that we were being caught up by another early bird Dr. Pandyarajah. A spread-out search led Dr. Pandyarajah finding its connecting paper some 100 metres away on the right of the back trail a short while later. As usual, as early birds, we did not join the paper.

The paper continued to zigzag through the undulating and bushy secondary jungle for some 10 minutes before hitting the second complicated false trail downhill. Its connecting paper was again found by Dr. Pandyarajah a short distance away on the right of the back trail after another spread-out search.

The first complicated check appeared on a bushy path after some 10 minutes trudge through the undulating terrains which was found by me a short distance away ahead. It was followed by the second tricky check downhill another some 10 minutes later which was also found by me a short distance away on the right of the back trail.

Led by Dr. Pandyarajah, we continued to follow the paper which meandered left, right and centre and up and down 2 hills and a stream for another some 15 minutes before hitting the third and last tough false trail on a hill slope in a rubber plantation. On the way, we were being over-taken by scheduled runners Gary and Dr. Linkun. While conducting our spread-out search, we were being caught up by GM Dennis the Menace who found its connecting paper on a broad laterite road a short distance away on the left of the back trail. From then on, it was another some 30 minutes’ jog southward through the rubber plantation and westward on the motorway in front of A Fomosa Resort of Simpang Ampat – Pulau Sebang Road before arriving back at the run site at 7.15 pm where a small pack of front and non runners were enjoying their drinks. On the way, we were being over taken by Gopal Taekwondo, ICI Chee, Kiasu Lee, Albert, Camel Lok, Simon Cheong and Peter Loi.

It was a hilly and bushy run of some 7 km on a virgin run site which took my partner and I some 2 hours and 5 minutes to complete. The last runners were back at 7.45 pm when the sky was dark and when the hash circle was on. Surprisingly, they were avid runners Pecker and partner Pinky Tight. Only God knows why they were so slow!

Hash circle was conducted by GM Dennis the Menace who was a freeman in the absence of Carol the Twin Towers who was away on holiday. As usual, it saw a number of sinners being put on ice and on-downed.

Hash run without an On In (as said by GM Dennis the Menace for On On) is incomplete. It was held at the virgin Chuen Kauw Seafood Restaurant in downtown Tampin. A total of 3 tables were taken up. A delicious 6-course Chinese dinner was served. Another on-downed session was conducted jointly by GM Dennis the Menace and On Sec. Chickadee. It saw a bigger number of sinners who included the hares being on-downed. In addition, a birthday cake was cut for hashers who were born in December. Happy birthday! Remember, you are now one month nearer to the heaven which forbids hashing and beer drinking. So enjoy your hashing fully now!

It was a memorable run at a virgin run site with good food at the virgin restaurant which was on the hares. A big thanks. It was only at 10.15 pm that we started to disperse for homes.

See you at the coming run of Gopal Taekwondo at Gangsa on 15th December, 2009, fellow hasher!

On! On!

Pictures of Joint Run 2009 Hashloween Party

A GRAND AND MEMORABLE MALACCA HASH JOINT RUN 2009

Malacca is a hashing paradise with 8 active hash chapters. Except Malacca Full Moon Hash which runs once a month on the 15th day of Chinese lunar month, the rest run once a week on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. For the purpose of enhancing their friendship and sharing their joy, they have since 1980 organized a yearly joint run starting with 4 hash chapters which were later increased to the present 8 hash chapters.

Come last 31st October, it was its 30th joint run which coincided with the auspicious Halloween Day. It was organized by Malacca Hash House Harriers on rotation. As the mother hash of Malacca Hashes which was founded on 13th May, 1975, it took the opportunity to organize a grand and memorable run which was named as Malacca Hashloween Joint Run 2009. It was held at the Orna Golf Resort, Gapam which is some 20 km east of Malacca City.

It was a cloudy day after an early morning downpour. As members of the organizing committee headed by GM Dennis the Menace, we arrived at the run site early to set up the registration centre and its run which consisted of a long run of some 11 km and a short run of some 9 km in the surrounding vicinity of Gapam.

The registration of some 330 hashers who included a few guests from Miri, Kuala Lumpur, Perth and Pattaya started at 3.00 pm. Among them were Websitekang, Ali Baba, Ali Bibi, Mary, Loy, 4896, Super 96, Rasputin, Tikus, James Bond, Gary, Mopiko, Ikan, Botak Chin and Lim Tian Han. Each of them was given a Mamee freebies bag containing a beautiful black T-shirt, tidbits, 2 beer glasses, a toothpaste, a hashing badge and a wrist tag. Light snacks such as curry pulp and kueh kuci, and free-flowing Tiger beer and mineral water were provided.

It was at 4.35 pm that the long run was flagged off at the compound of Orna Golf Resort by GM Dennis the Menace. As it was drizzling then, it attracted a small participation of some 50 avid hashers. It was followed by the short run some 10 minutes later which was participated by some 20 avid hashers. As organizer with loads of work to be done, most of the MH3 members did not take part in the run except a few sweepers led by Ranger.

The run led north out of the Orna Golf Resort on the tarred road for a short distance and turned right eastward into an abandoned banana plantation and southward into an oil palm plantation before crossing a chest-deep river towards Kampung Tehel. It continued to meander through the undulating terrains of bushes, oil palm and fruit plantations for a while before making a U-turn back to the run site from the right. The short run followed the same trail before making a U-turn half way through. For the purpose slowing down the front-runners, a few checks were set on the way.

It was quite a challenging run. The first runner was back at around 6.10 pm closely followed by the second runner. They were none other than Baba of Sunday Hash and guest Gary of Mamee. The last runners were back at around 7.15 pm when the sky was pitch dark.

Hash circle was conducted jointly by GM Dennis the Menace, ex GM Vibrator and ex GM Bombastic. As usual, it saw a number of sinners who included the front-runner being put on ice and on-downed. It ended with the display of fireworks.

On On was held at the Orna Restaurant which was beautifully decorated in Halloween style. It was well attended by some 330 hungry hashers in various Halloween make-ups and dresses. A 6-course delicious Chinese dinner was served with free-flowing beer. Dances were performed, beer drinking competition and on-downed sessions were held. Dancers took to the floor to dance wildly to the tune of music from the live band. Lucky draws were also held with a number of presents which included air tickets and hampers.

It was a grandest and most memorable joint hash run ever being organized in Malacca. It ended at around mid night when we left with full stomach, smiling face and fond memory. A big thanks to the freebies sponsors such as Mamee and a big salute and thanks to the organizing committee for the job well done. Keep it up.

See you at the coming 31st Joint Run 2010 which will be organized by Orang Utan Hash!

On! On!
