Rehashed run 1840 - Sweetie Pie & Orang Kaya - 6/4/10

Rehashed Run No: 1840; Hares: Ngoh Kim Siah (Orang Kaya) & Debbie Lee (Sweetie Pie); Date: 6th April, 2010; Venue: Gapam.

Accompanying The Co-hare To Set An Enjoyable Medium Run

Ngoh Kim Siah and Debbie Lee are two devoted veteran hashers whom I have known since joining the MH3 in 1991. In spite of their busy work, they make it a point to attend the weekly run regularly come rain or shine.

Come last Tuesday which was a sunny day, it was their turn as joint hares on rotation. As expected, owing to their popularity, it had attracted a big turnout of some 50 hashers who included 14 local and foreign guests from Thailand and Japan.

Gapam is a popular hashing run site which is situated some 20 km east of Malacca City. It is covered with fruit, oil palm and rubber plantations on mild bushy and undulating terrains across a few rivers and ditches which is ideal for hashing.

As invited by professional co-hare Killer Tony earlier, my partner and I arrived at the run site beside the Ayer Keroh – Bemban Road at 4.00 pm after picking up Sexy Chan. After putting up the hash signboard and equipping ourselves with a bag of shredded white papers, a knife, a GPS and few bottles of drinking water, and after having a small briefing on the intended running trail, the 4 of us set out to lay the paper at 4.15 pm without recce led by Killer Tony. The paper led southward on a path into an oil palm plantation, abreast a long stretch of deep ditch in an open land and across a drain into another oil palm plantation for some 35 minutes before a simple check was set on a bushy path. Its connecting was placed beside an oil palm tree some 100 metres away on the left of the back trail.

The paper continued to lead southward across an oil palm and a rubber plantation for the next 15 minutes before the second simple check was set on a path. Its connecting paper was placed beside a rubber tree some 100 metres away on the left forward.

The paper then led eastward through an oil palm plantation, a bushy rubber plantation full of mosquitoes and 2 drains for another some 20 minutes before the third simple check was set on a bushy path. Its connecting paper was placed some 100 metres ahead.

The fourth and last simple check was set on another bushy path in an oil palm plantation another some 20 minutes later after crossing through a rubber plantation. Like the previous check, its connecting paper was placed some 100 metres away ahead. By then we were in Tehel. From then on, the paper continued to be set eastward and northward through Kampung Tehel, abreast the long stretch of Tehel River and Duyong River and across Kampung Duyong for another some one hour before arriving back at the run site through Ayer Keroh – Bemban Road at 6.50 pm where a pack of non runners and SCB were enjoying their drinks around the beer wagon.

It was a medium run of 10.21 km as recorded by Killer Tony’s GPS. It took the first avid runner to arrive back at 7.12 pm. And he is none other than energetic Dr. Pandyarajah followed closely by a Japanese guest Kotehbawahkuichi and Ranger. As time passed by, more runners trickled in. They included Vibrator, Albert, ICI Chee, Govind, Wee Wee, GM Dennis the Menace and Carol the Twin Towers who had just returned from their holiday trip to Gulf of Bengal. The last runners who exited at 8.35 pm when the sky was dark were Pecker and Dr. Linkun. Only God knows why they were so slow.

Hash Circle was conducted jointly by GM Dennis the Menace and Ex-GM Vibrator. As usual, it saw a big number of sinners being put on ice and on-downed. They included the hares who did not set the run but only attended it due to their busy work. It was then announced by GM Dennis the Menace that he and his other half Carol the Twin Towers would be leaving Malacca for Texas, USA for good on 1st May, 2010 after 4 years’ hashing with MH3. What a great shock to us! We are definitely going to lose and miss a great couple of ardent, devoted and generous hashers like them. Hope to see them again in the nearest future after that and wish them all the best. In appreciation of our fellowship, each of us was given a cold beer.

On In was held at the popular Jaya Corner Restaurant in the nearby Bukit Beruang. It was well attended with 5 tables fully occupied. A sumptuous Chinese dinner was served with beer, wine and brandy. Another on-downed session was conducted for a number of sinners and a lucky draw was held. The food was on the hares. A big thanks!

It was undoubtedly an enjoyable run and On In. It ended at around 11.00 pm when we dispersed with fond memory.

See you at the coming torchlight run of Speedy Gonzales at Bertam Ulu, fellow hashers!

Rehashed run 1839 - Gary & Evelyn 30-03-10

Rehashed Run No: 1839; Hares: Gary Tan & Evelyn Cheong; Date: 30th March, 2010; Venue: Cheng.

A Memorable Tricky And Hilly Run

Gary Tan and Evelyn Cheong is a young and loving couple who have been running with MH3 for a number of years. As scheduled on rotation, it was their turn as joint hares in last week’s run which had attracted a pack of some 30 hashers who included 3 guests.

It was a cloudy and cool Tuesday afternoon. On my late arrival at the run site in a housing estate with my other half, there were already quite a big number of turnouts who were preparing for the impending run.

It was at 5.50 pm that patience got the better of Hawaii Goh, Nancy, SYT, Super 96, my partner and I. Led by Hawaii Goh, we started the run as early birds by following the paper which led uphill beside a big water tank and a stretch of bush for a short distance before arriving at an oil palm plantation. It then meandered down slope for some 15 minutes before hitting first tricky false trail. A spread-out search led to the finding of its connecting paper some 100 metres away uphill on the right of the back trail by Hawaii Goh and his pack some 10 minutes later. By then I was left alone without my partner, as I had just found the said connecting paper after taking a big loop. And it was then that I met scheduled runner Wee Wee who was also walking alone. For the purpose of avoiding getting lost separately, we decided to follow the paper together and engaged in chitchatting.

The paper continued to meander through the oil palm plantation for a short while before exiting at tarred road in a rubber plantation northward. It was another short while later that it hit a T-junction in front of the new Tesco construction site on the left which leads to the home trail a short distance away. However, as it was still early then and as devoted hashers who were determined to complete the whole run, we decided to follow the paper which led to the right on the tarred road. A short distance away, we met a few traffic policemen who were conducting checks on motorcycles and their riders. They smiled at us crazy hashers running after the white paper trail.

The paper continued to lead eastward on the tarred road for another short distance before turning right into an oil palm plantation beside a farmhouse where a pack of dogs were barking at us for intruding into its compound. It encircled a loop for some 10 minutes before returning to the same entrance. It was then that we realized that we were caught in a loop and met Kachang Panjang and Agnes who were also caught in the same loop behind us a short while later. A spread-out search was conducted to no avail. We then followed Kachang Panjang who led us on a path southward under a long stretch of high-tension electric cable. And to our great relief, it was some 400 metres away that we hit the paper trail. As slow walkers, Wee Wee, Agnes and I were left behind by fast walker Kachang Panjang a short while later. From then on, it was another some l-hour trudge up and down 5 tough and steep hills where we showed our hashing spirit by pushing and pulling each other before arriving at Taman Cheng Baru housing estate after exiting from the Chinese cemetery at Krubong with the use of a torch light I carried when the sky was dark. We were then picked up by the hare Gary with a van and arrived back at the run site as last runners at 8.10 pm when the hash circle was on. Needless to say that my partner who had exited earlier with Hawaii Goh, Camel Lok, Nancy and SYT, was smiling widely upon seeing me arriving back safely in one piece. Otherwise she would be having a sleepless night worrying!

It was a memorable medium run of some 7 km with tricky checks and loop through tough and hilly terrains. Luckily the 3 of us were stuck together all the while otherwise we might have got lost and spent the night individually in the plantation. Of course I do not mind getting lost and spending the night there with them even with the risk of my ear being pulled by my partner the next day!

In the absence of GM Dennis the Menace who was away on holiday on an island in the Gulf of Bengal with Carol the Twin Towers, the hash circle was conducted by On Sec. Chickadee. As usual, it saw a big number of sinners being put on ice and on-downed. They included the 3 of us last runners.

On In was held at the nearby Wellen Restaurant in Taman Cheng Perdana. In attendance were some 30 hungry hashers. A delicious 6-course Chinese dinner was served with drinks. Another on-downed session was conducted by On Sec. Chickadee for the sinners who included the hares. The food was on the hares. A big thanks. The pack had started to disperse at 9.45 pm.

See you at the coming joint run of Ngoh Kim Siah and Debbie Lee at Gapam, fellow hashers!

Rehashed run 1838 Khoo Ka 23/3/10

Rehashed Run No: 1838; Hare: Khoo Ka; Date: 23rd March, 2010; Venue: Taman Sri Bertam, Bertam Ulu.

An Enjoyable Medium Run

Khoo Ka is a known devoted hasher cum active marathon runner who has been running with MH3 and a few other hashing chapters in Malacca for many years. As scheduled on rotation, it was his run yesterday which had attracted a fairly big turnout of 34 hashers who included 4 guests. It was held at the popular hashing run site of Taman Sri Bertam which is covered with hilly oil palm, rubber and fruit plantations.

It was a cloudy and cool Tuesday afternoon after an early morning downpour. As usual, looking forward for a weekly good sweat-out, my partner and I arrived early at the run site which is some 6 km away from our house. No single soul was seen there other than 2 cars belonging to the hare and his co-hare Peter Loi, a veteran hasher who is known to set exciting run without recce and the use of GPS. Understandably, they must have left the run site earlier to execute their mission.

It was at 5.10 pm that the two of us started the run as early birds after the arrival of ICI Chee who was on his way home from work in Tangkak, Johor. The paper led westward on a broad laterite road into a shady oil palm plantation. It then meandered up and down 2 small hills through an oil palm and a rubber plantation for some 35 minutes before hitting the first simple check on a path. A spread-out search led to the finding of its connecting paper by me uphill some 100 metres away on the left of the back trail a few minutes later. It was then that we were being caught up by Oil Rig Lim who is a long-lost ex MH3 member. As usual, as early birds, we did not join the paper to avoid sitting on ice during the hash circle later.

The paper then led northward downhill and meandered through the oil palm plantation for another some 20 minutes before hitting the second simple check at an open land beside a deep ditch. On the way, we were engaged in exchanging grandfather stories. Another spread-out search led to the finding of its connecting paper by me in an oil palm plantation some 100 metres away downhill on the right a short while later. As usual, to convey the result of my finding to my partner who was standing by the side of the check point and Oil Rig Lim who went downhill on the left, I shouted ‘On! On!’ for them to join me.

The paper continued to lead into the oil palm plantation for a short distance before turning right eastward into a rubber plantation and another oil palm plantation for another some 25 minutes before hitting the third and last tricky check at a T-junction. Thinking that its connecting paper was placed in the forward vicinity, a spread-out search of some 10 minutes was conducted to no avail. It was only after we were being joined by a young and avid guest runner that we managed to find it some 150 metres away on the left of the back trail. From then on, it was another some 40 minutes trudge zigzagging through the undulating terrains of an oil palm plantation, a durian plantation, a bushy secondary jungle, across a couple of drains and barbed wire fencings before arriving back at the run site at 7.20 pm where a big pack of front runners were enjoying their drinks around the beer wagon. On the way we were being over taken by a big pack of scheduled runners. Among them were Dr. Pandyarajah, Govind, Albert, Simon Cheong, Kiasu Lee, ICI Chee, Hawaii Goh, Nancy, Holy, Camel Lok, Pramjit Singh, Utom Singh, Killer Tony, Sexy Chan and Asst. On Sec. Carol the Twin Towers who was smiling in the absence of GM Denis the Menace. More runners trickled in as time passed by. They included Wee Wee and 2 Mat Salleh guests. The last runner who exited after being led out by a search party led by the hare at 8.20 pm when the sky was dark was Henry.

It was an enjoyable medium run of some 8 km which took the hare and his co-hares Peter Loi and Sharp Shooter Robert some 2 hours to set.

Hash circle was jointly conducted by Carol the Twin Towers and GM Denis the Menace who did not join the run due to his work commitment. It saw a big number of sinners who included the hare and a few guests being put on ice and on-downed.

On In was held at the nearby The Harriettes Bistro in Sungai Udang operated by On Sec. Chickadee. It was well attended with 4 tables fully occupied. A delicious 5-course dinner was served with drinks. Another lengthy on-downed session was held for the sinners. The dinner was on the hare. A big thanks! It was at around 10.15 pm that we began to disperse.

See you at the coming joint run of Gary Tan and Evelyn Cheong at Cheng, fellow hashers!

Run 1837 Hare Bombastic Runsite Bemban

Run 1837 at Bemban with hare Bombastic
March 16,2010

As per the hare's directions, we drove through JPJ junction, past Tony Teh's house and began looking for the hash signs. The runsite was actually at Bemban, which should have been a tip-off that the hare was being tricky, or else at age 60 his mind was no longer working correctly. We did arrive at the runsite around 5:50 PM, and it was a new place neither twin towers or I had run before.

We parked in the midst of a frog strangling rain, which had all of the hashers tucked away under cover. Knowing a little water was a good thing, the ass on sex, Hendry and I alighted from the car and began to muster the dedicated souls into the piss to begin preparations for the run. Baby Elephant was eager as always to take attendance and did a good job of tracking everyone down. Warm-up started around 5:55 and as if controlled by the hare, the rain slacked off to a mere drizzle. The GM (that's me) led the warm-up. It was a good turnout, with around 40 hashers pariticpating in the run, but there was also a hefty contigent of fair weather ( especially MSH4) hashers who didn't want to get mud on their shoes. It was disheartening to see several guests and new hashers brave the weather, while the veterans doodled.

The run started off on pavement and headed back towards town. My brain immediately began having unpure thoughts about the hare, knowing he had pussied out and laid a city run. Speedy Gonzales, finally showed the speed from his namesake (I guess the rain and cool weather or maybe prelube drinking got into him) as he sprinted ahead of the pack. Not long on the pavement and Speedy veered into the oil palm along a meandering trail. I was just beginning to give the hare some credit for getting out of the city when the trail veered into the backyard of the local residents and was back on pavement. Just as I suspected, Bombastic was too old to set a good trail anymore!!

I was soon proven dead wrong!! The old fart put the hurt on us..

Speedy Gonzales continued to sprint (where is Ranger when you need him) and the rest of us labored to keep visual contact with him. We were soon treking through a water crossing, uphill and onto the 1st check, which proved to be a false trail into the oil palms. After a long and arduous search, which saw the whole pack re-united, ON ON was finally called back down the road to the left of a cemetery fence. I'm not positive who actually found the trail , but I believe it was Utom Singh.

At this point Govind, had claimed the lead from Speedy, and he also raised a brisk pace down the paved road. Unfortunately, the hare tripped up the lead runners again, as the paper was gone again. The pack all caught up with the leaders again as the group spread out to search for the paper. Most of us suspected the hare had proceeded up the hill into the oil palms on the right and began meandering our way to the top. Wrong!!

Again the devious hare had set another good check which was finally found by Speedy to the left back off into the rubber trees. Being the good samaritin, I gathered up the false trail papers and joined the trail as best I could with the scant papers. Leaving the rubber, the paper headed through ditches and thorns eventually coming out on another palm trail. I assumed at this point most of the hashers were in the pack considering the large amount of time spent on the two aforementioned checks. However, it was apparently at this point Wee Wee and another foxy lady guest lost the trail and eventually had to be rescued. More on that later.

The trail emerged into a tee junction of sorts, with more shiggy in front and no paper. Once again the hare bunched the pack as all spread out and began the considerable effort to find this check. At this point we encountered early birds Sam Prasad, Drug Buster, Wonder Woman, and maybe a couple of others. Sam explained he was soaking ass wet, not from sweat, but because he had gone in early and got caught in the aforementioned downpour. Eventually, ON ON was called, I'm not sure who found this one, on the downhill side of a newly planted mellon patch. It was a bit confusing, so once again being the good samaritan, I picked up what little paper was available and started backward to join the trail. Sam. the new guests, twin towers, etc. all passed me as I proceeded backwards so I assumed all the hashers were in front of me. No one mentioned WEE WEE and GUEST were still in the back, so I can only assume the Americans are to blame for leaving them !!!

Once again the paper wound through underbrush, thorns, and shiggy ( definitely not a road run) before eventually emerging out onto a road of sorts. Here the pace picked back up for the front runners, and even I managed to straggle back to the middle of the pack. One more ditch, or maybe two, more thorns, more shiggy, and then finally back to the pavement. It was about a 1 KM run back on pavement to the runsite. When I arrived, Maw had arrived with the beer wagon, and the front runners and non runners had begun the process of replenishing the lost alcohol and telling of the great run. Bombastic was handing out some beautiful orange and white hash shirts. Baby Elephant was keen to track all returners and around 7:30 reported that all were out except for WEE WEE and a lady guest. The GM (me again) decided to start the circle as we had a lot of guests to introduce and we didn't want to be too late for the ON IN as it was a special day for Bombastic.

A number of outstation hashers, including the Grand GM of Malaysia Hash, were in attendance. As they sat on the ice, they all expressed their appreciation to the hare for laying a great run. A couple of virgin hashers from the USA, Travis and Vito, were shown proper skin technique for icing and then proceeded to be christened to the hash. The must have enjoyed the ice, as they have been repeat sinners since. WEE WEE and GUEST were contacted via. phone and a couple of search vehicles were sent to rescue them. In the meantime, the GM announced another crate of beer to be consumed while waiting, and more sinners were iced Next weeks hare, Kukah announced the upcoming runsite at Bertam Ulu . Around 8:30 the rescue of the ladies (they were hanging out back at the aforementioned cemetery) was made and the circle closed.

The ON IN was at Bombastics' cousin's place in Batu Berendam. In addition to the usual great Indian Cuisine, custom made Mee Goring, fresh fruit, beer, wiskey, cognac, toddy , etc. were all in abundance and provided courtesy of the 60 year old hare.

It was a great turnout, with many of Bombastics friends and old hashers from various ages and places gathering to join MH3 to wish him a happy 60th birthday. The GM and Balan each took a turn to toast the various hashers and friends, along with Bombastic. It was great to see such a big turnout to appreciate the official turning of Bombastic into an OLD FART HASHER...
