Rehashed run 1823 - Pramjit & Ederjit

Rehashed Run No: 1823; Hares: Pramjit Singh & Ederjit Kaur;
Date: 8th December, 2009; Venue: Simpang Ampat, Alor Gajah.

A Challenging Hilly & Bushy Run

Pramjit Singh and Ederjit Kaur is a loving couple and devoted hashers who have been running with Malacca Hash House Harriers for a number of years. Come last Tuesday, it was their joint run on rotation which had unexpectedly participated by a smaller number of some 20 odd runners rather than a normal bigger number of 40 runners due the year-end holiday season.

It was a sunny Tuesday afternoon. As usual, longing for a good sweat-out and socializing with fellow hashers after returning from a week-long holiday trip in Yunnan, China, my partner and I arrived at the virgin run site beside an Indian Temple in Simpang Ampat, Alor Gajah which is some 40 km north of Malacca city. As expected, only 3 cars belonging to the hare, co-hare Utom Singh and runner Dr. Pandyarajah were seen there. Other then Dr. Pandyarajah who was seen changing his dress while preparing for the run, there were no sight of the hares and co-hare. Understandably, they must have left earlier to set the running trail.

As usual, as oldies and slow runners who are scared of being left behind and get lost, my partner and I started our run as early birds at 5.10 pm by following the paper which led north on a wide laterite road. A short distance ahead, it turned right across a barbed wire fencing, the Patronas underground gas piping passageway and another barbed wire fencing before entering and meandering through a bushy and undulating secondary jungle for some 40 minutes where it hit the first complicated false trail on top of a hill slope. It was then that we were being caught up by another early bird Dr. Pandyarajah. A spread-out search led Dr. Pandyarajah finding its connecting paper some 100 metres away on the right of the back trail a short while later. As usual, as early birds, we did not join the paper.

The paper continued to zigzag through the undulating and bushy secondary jungle for some 10 minutes before hitting the second complicated false trail downhill. Its connecting paper was again found by Dr. Pandyarajah a short distance away on the right of the back trail after another spread-out search.

The first complicated check appeared on a bushy path after some 10 minutes trudge through the undulating terrains which was found by me a short distance away ahead. It was followed by the second tricky check downhill another some 10 minutes later which was also found by me a short distance away on the right of the back trail.

Led by Dr. Pandyarajah, we continued to follow the paper which meandered left, right and centre and up and down 2 hills and a stream for another some 15 minutes before hitting the third and last tough false trail on a hill slope in a rubber plantation. On the way, we were being over-taken by scheduled runners Gary and Dr. Linkun. While conducting our spread-out search, we were being caught up by GM Dennis the Menace who found its connecting paper on a broad laterite road a short distance away on the left of the back trail. From then on, it was another some 30 minutes’ jog southward through the rubber plantation and westward on the motorway in front of A Fomosa Resort of Simpang Ampat – Pulau Sebang Road before arriving back at the run site at 7.15 pm where a small pack of front and non runners were enjoying their drinks. On the way, we were being over taken by Gopal Taekwondo, ICI Chee, Kiasu Lee, Albert, Camel Lok, Simon Cheong and Peter Loi.

It was a hilly and bushy run of some 7 km on a virgin run site which took my partner and I some 2 hours and 5 minutes to complete. The last runners were back at 7.45 pm when the sky was dark and when the hash circle was on. Surprisingly, they were avid runners Pecker and partner Pinky Tight. Only God knows why they were so slow!

Hash circle was conducted by GM Dennis the Menace who was a freeman in the absence of Carol the Twin Towers who was away on holiday. As usual, it saw a number of sinners being put on ice and on-downed.

Hash run without an On In (as said by GM Dennis the Menace for On On) is incomplete. It was held at the virgin Chuen Kauw Seafood Restaurant in downtown Tampin. A total of 3 tables were taken up. A delicious 6-course Chinese dinner was served. Another on-downed session was conducted jointly by GM Dennis the Menace and On Sec. Chickadee. It saw a bigger number of sinners who included the hares being on-downed. In addition, a birthday cake was cut for hashers who were born in December. Happy birthday! Remember, you are now one month nearer to the heaven which forbids hashing and beer drinking. So enjoy your hashing fully now!

It was a memorable run at a virgin run site with good food at the virgin restaurant which was on the hares. A big thanks. It was only at 10.15 pm that we started to disperse for homes.

See you at the coming run of Gopal Taekwondo at Gangsa on 15th December, 2009, fellow hasher!

On! On!
