Rehashed run 1825 - Tony and Sexy Chan - 22/12/09

Rehashed Run No: 1825; Hares: Tony Tay (Killer Tony) & Chan Nyok Lan (Sexy Chan); Date: 22nd December, 2009; Venue: Ayer Panas, Bemban.

Accompanying The Hare To Set An Enjoyable Medium Run

Killer Tony is a veteran hasher who is one of the 2 current Joint Masters of Malacca Hash House Harriers. Sexy Chan is a devoted hasher who is a current Committee Member of Malacca Hash House Harrier. Come yesterday which coincided with the yearly Chinese Winter Festival, it was their joint run on rotation. Owing to their popularity and generosity, it had attracted a big turnout of some 40 hashers who included a number of hashers from other chapters.

It was a cool Tuesday afternoon. As invited by the hares earlier, my partner and I arrived at the run site early to accompany them to set the running trail without recce. Whilst there, we met Sexy Chan, 4896, Super 96 and Kacang Panjang. Killer Tony was not there as he was attending the funeral of his beloved demised mother. Our heartiest condolences to him and his family.
It was at 3.30 pm that we started the paper laying trip after parking our cars at the entrance of abandoned Golden Valley Golf Club along the Bemban – Kesang Pajak Road and equipping ourselves with a GPS, 2 knives, a bag of shredded white papers and a few bottles of drinking water. Led by Kacang Panjang, the paper led southwest into a matured oil palm plantation, abreast a lake and turned a short distance southward for some 25 minutes before the first and only simple check was set at a cross junction. Its connecting paper was placed beside an oil palm tree on the left upslope a short distance ahead.

The paper continued to be set eastward up and down 2 small hills and across a small stream for another 20 minutes before the first tricky false trail was placed a short distance up a mild hill slope. Its connecting paper was placed some 100 metres ahead of the back trail northeastward.

For the purpose of slowing down the FRB such as Ranger, GM Dennis the Menace, Dr. Pandyarajah and Govind, the paper trail was then set downhill and uphill northward into a thick bush, and downhill and uphill again into another thick bush eastward for some 30 minutes before the second and last trickier false trail was placed on a path. Its connecting paper was placed on the left northward some 100 metres away on the back trail. From then on, the paper continued to be set northward through the bush for a short distance before arriving at the motorway of the abandoned Golden Valley Golf Club building where it was set on the tarred road towards the home trail. Half way through it, as it was still early before the run started at 6.00 pm and we did not want the runners to know our exiting home trail, we stopped setting the paper trail by turning left into the oil palm plantation towards the in-trail and arrived some 200 metres near the run site at 5.40 pm where we hid behind some bushes. In the absence of GM Dennis the Menace who was busy with his work, it was then that we saw a big pack of runners starting their run before the scheduled time. We arrived back at the run site at 6.00 pm where we met Gilbert Chee, Baby Elephant and Bombastic, showed them the home trail and sought the assistance of Bombastic to join the paper on the tarred road when they started their run from the back trail. While on our way back in the oil palm plantation, we met early birds Orang Kaya Ngoh and Debbie who were enjoying their leisure stroll from the opposite direction.

It was an enjoyable medium run of some 7 km in this rarely patronized run site which took us some 2 hours to set. The first early birds to come back at 6.30 pm were none other than Orang Kaya Ngoh and Debbie. And the first scheduled runner who took 47 minutes to complete the run was Ranger followed closely by Dr. Pandyarajah and Govind. The last runners were back at 7.30 pm when the sky began to fall dark. Among them were SYT, Helen Of Troy, Gobalakrishnan Taekwando and Leela.

In the absence of GM Dennis the Menace and JM Killer Tony, a short and sweet hash circle was conducted by me as the second JM. A few sinners who included the hare, first runner and a guest were put on ice and on-downed. It was then announced by Bulldozer from Batu Pahat Full Moon Hash that its committee run would be held at Tongkang Pechah, Batu Pahat on 1st January, 2010. Hashers are invited to join it. Do not hesitate to give your support by joining it, fellow hashers! See you there.

On In was held at the Hikeng Restaurant in downtown Melaka Raya. It was well-attended by some 40 hungry hashers who included GM Dennis the Menace, JM Killer Tony and a few guests. A delicious 6-course Chinese dinner was served. Another on-downed session was conducted by GM Dennis the Menace who would be a single man for another 3 days only before the return of his other half, Carol the Twin Towers, who was away on holiday. It saw a big number of sinners being on-downed. It was then announced by GM Dennis the Menace that JM Killer Tony had donated RM 500.00 to MH3 in conjunction with the demise of his beloved mother. The food was on the hares. A big thanks. It was at around 10.30 pm that the pack started to disperse.

See you at the coming Christmas Run of Christian Connection on 29th December, 2009 which is a boat-ride run along the Malacca River starting from the Customs Complex, Melaka Raya to Taman Rempah, Mata Kuching and back. It is a unique run which you are sure to enjoy. So make sure you attend it, fellow hashers! See you there.

Merry Christmas!

On! On!
