Rehashed run 1819 - Baby Elephant (Drugbuster)
Rehashed Run No: 1819; Hare: Doris Khoo a.k.a. Baby Elephant; Date: 10th November, 2009; Venue: Tehel.
Accompanying The Co-hare To Set A Short And Sweet Run
Doris Khoo is a jovial veteran hasher whom I have known since joining the MH3 in 1991. A walker rather than a runner, she used to attend the weekly run regularly come rain or shine.
As scheduled on rotation, it was her run on last Tuesday. As expected, it attracted the attendance of some 40 hashers in spite of the wet weather.
Tehel is a familiar friendly hashing run site on flat terrains covered with oil palm, rubber and fruit plantations situated some 20 km south of Malacca city. As appointed earlier, co-hare Killer Tony, Sexy Chan, my partner and I gathered at the run site by the side of the Bukit Katil - Bemban road at 4.00 pm. As usual and led by Killer Tony, we set out to lay the running trail without recce some 10 minutes later after equipping ourselves with shredded white papers, drinking water and a GPS and having a small discussion on its intended short running trail taking into consideration of the present early night fall.
The paper led east and northeast on a broad laterite road in an oil palm plantation for some 30 minutes before setting the first simple check at a T-junction. Its connecting paper was placed some 100 metres away down slope into a rubber and oil palm plantations for another some 20 minutes before arriving at a tarred road at Kampung Lubuk Besau where the second tricky check was placed beside an oil palm tree northward across a bridge towards Bukit Katil Its connecting paper was placed by the side of said tarred road some 150 metres away on the right of the back trail.
The paper continued to lead southward into an oil palm plantation abreast the said village full of mixed fruit trees for another some 10 minutes before the third and the last simple check was set beside an oil palm tree on the left of a T-junction. Its connecting paper was placed beside another oil palm tree on the right some100 metres away. From then on, it was another some 30 minutes meander westward through the oil palm plantation before arriving near a T-junction which hit the in-trail where we heard and saw a few early birds led by Albert coming from the opposite direction. The time then was 5.40 pm. For the purpose of avoiding them knowing the home trail, the 4 of us hid behind some bushes a short distance away. It was only at 6.15 pm that we continued with our paper setting which hit the in-trail after the scheduled runners who started their run at 6.00 pm had passed us. We arrived back at the run site at 6.25 pm after some 10 minutes walk.
It was a short and sweet run of some 6 km which was attended by some 40 hashers. The first scheduled runner was back at 6.45 pm. He was none other than Ranger who was closely followed by Dr. Pandyarajah and GM Dennis the Menace and Govind. The last runner who came back at 7.20 pm when the sky was dark was Carol the Twin Towers. She was accompanied by Dr.Linkun. Of course it was a great relief to her concerned partner GM Dennis the Menace who was seen with a smiling face.
Hash circle was conducted by GM Dennis the Menace. As usual, it saw a number of sinners being put on ice and on-downed.
On On was held at Hiking Restaurant in downtown Melaka Raya. A total of 4 tables were fully taken up. A delicious 6-course Chinese dinner was served. Another on-downed session was held for the sinners who included the hare. The dinner was partly subsidized by the hare. A big thanks. It ended at around 10.30 pm when the crowd began to disperse.
See you at the coming run of Michelle Neo at Kesang Pajak, fellow hashers!
On! On!
