Rehashed run 1815

Rehashed Run No: 1815; Hare: Govind; Date: 13th October, 2009; Venue: Durian Tunggal.

A Complicated Swampy And Hilly Run

Govind is a known energetic front-runner. Come last Tuesday it was his turn as hare which was announced in the previous run. As expected, it had attracted a big turnout.

As usual, on our early arrival at this seldom-patronized run site in front of Auyin Hill, only the hare’s car and his co-hare’s motorcycle were seen there. We were later told that they had left to set the running trail at 4.00 pm after conducting a recce.

Like previously, as slow runners who looked forward for a good sweat-out, my partner and I started the run as early birds at 5.30 pm soon after the arrival of ever-industrious On Cash Horlick.

The paper led south along a tarred road for some 200 metres before turning left into a long stretch of swampy bush which made our walk difficult and took us some 15 minutes to cross. The paper then turned left uphill into a rubber plantation which took us another some 20 minutes to reach its top and into a bush where it hit its first complicated check. After some 10-minute spread-out search, its connecting paper was found by me some 100 metres away downhill in the rubber plantation on the left. As usual, as early birds, we did not join the paper.

The paper then went downhill for a short distance before turning right to a tarred road which is some 1 km away from the in-trail and run site on the left. However, for the purpose of dragging the running trail longer, it turned right upslope for a short distance and down-slope for another short distance into a drain before going uphill into a bushy rubber plantation. As my partner was feeling a sudden pain on her leg, we decided not to continue with the run by making a back trail. On the way at the said tarred road, we met a big pack of SCB led by Bombastic who did not follow the paper through the swamp coming from the opposite direction to continue their run. However, some of them follow us by taking the back trail after sensing that it would be going to be a tough run. On our way back some 200 metres away from the run site, we met the hare Govind and his co-hare Ambah exiting from the rubber plantation on the right with a big bag of shredded papers each after setting the run. They were covered with mud and sweat. We were told that the run covered a mixture of swamp, 3 hills and several streams. We arrived back at the run site at 6.30 pm where a few non-runners were banging their balls while waiting for the beer wagon to arrive. Later we were joined by our long-lost website master Websitekang who was taking a holiday trip back to Malacca. He still looked as fit and jovial as before. Keep it up.

It was a medium run of mixed terrains which took them some 2 over hours to set as told by the hare. Owing to its toughness and complication, a number of runners did not complete the run by taking shortcut and returned to the run site from various directions. The last runners were back at around 7.30 pm when the sky began to fall dark.

Hash circle was well attended. It was jointly conducted by GM Dennis the Menace and Ex-GM Cocker. Several invitation runs were announced by them. Among them were the Batu Pahat Hash run, Penang Hash run and Haadyai Songkran run. Those interested to join them were advised to register early. Besides, an on-down session was also held. It saw a good number of sinners being put on ice and on-downed. They included Ranger and ever-industrious Websitekang.

On On was held at Lai Dai Restaurant in Ayer Keroh Heights. In attendance were some 40 hashers. Delicious Chinese dinner was served with some donated beer. It was followed by another on-downed session which saw another big number of sinners being on-downed. The food was on the hare. A big thanks. It ended at around 10.30 pm.

See you at the coming run of Marion Chung a.k.a. Sleeping Beauty at Bertam Ulu!

On! On!
