Rehashed run 1819 - Baby Elephant (GM)

Hash Run 1819

Venue: Tehil
Hare: Baby Elephant
CoHares: Crazy Horse & Drug Buster

I arrived at the run-site at 5:50 to find about 30 cars lined up on the new road joining Tehil with Melaka and Bemban. The weather was fine for hashing, ie. it had been raining and the track was mudded up nicely. I had previously run at this site about 1 ½ years ago and was amazed at the growth which had occurred in the new palm field in that period.

As many of the hashers were wary of the rainy weather, combined with the two joint masters as co-hares, there were numerous early birds, whose cars were present with no hashers left on site.

Warm-ups were conducted by the GM and the main pack headed out promptly at 6 pm. Ranger was feeling especially spry and took off in rapid pursuit of the hares. The paper headed downhill into the new palm plantation following a reasonable lorry track. The 1st check was rather simple, and the trail was found by Ranger, leading into the rubber out of the oil palms along a faint tapper track. The GM joined the paper.

After about a KM the trail crossed a ditch and entered back into the oil palms. The next check was a bit trickier as the hares fainted downhill next to the paved road and left the check behind a palm tree. Eventually, Govind hollered On- On from up the hill away from the main road. Once again the GM joined the paper.. By this time, a good pack had formed, consisting of FRBs, early birds, and other runners. A lot of hashers were encouraging, including a still energetic Bombastic as I passed them heading up a hill and back across the barbed wire to another lorry track.

The lorry track eventually led to a tee junction, where some more Early birds indicated a 3rd check. Once again Ranger found the paper. In this case, Ranger could clearly be heard shouting ON ON at a loud and frequent cadence. It soon became apparent he was so boisterous due to the fact that Govind and the GM were only about 20 feet away from him, but there was an impassable chin link fence which allowed Ranger a 500 meter head start leaving the check.

At this point the paper poured out onto a paved road heading back towards Tehil. It was good to see early birds, Helen of Troy, Mrs. Hawaii, Hawaii, Bugsy Malone, ICI, etc.all enjoying the trail and the cool weather. I am not sure why Helen was wearing a diaper on the top of her head?

Leaving the pavement the trail began the loop back via. a nice combination of lorry track, virgin trail, and footpaths. The long hill back to the top via a repeat of the in-trail proved quite a challenge at the end of the run. Back at the vehicles, the FRB’s all congratulated the hare and co-hares on a good run and began drinking the cold tiger while waiting for the rest of the pack.

Twin Towers and Lincun finally emerged about 15 minutes after everyone else was back. Several queries to determine what they were doing did not gain any useful information, other than a claim they couldn’t find the paper???

The circle started at about 7: 15 with some typical sinners being iced, ie. Ranger with no shirt, Hendry for offering to schedule swimming lessons, King Rat from Orangutan Club was iced and thanked for sponsoring the Hashloween Tee-shirts. One guest from Klang, I can’t remember his hash-handle, was iced. It was good to hear the nice things he said about the recent Hashloween joint run. Twin Towers led the group in singing the Tuesday Hasher song and then was iced for flying off and leaving the GM lonely.

Next weeks hare, Michele, was represented by Long Bean, who announced the upcoming runsite at Ayung Hill. Directions: go past Durian Tungal Town, and then look for hash signs. The GM requested all members who support the upcoming Christmas run to pay their RM 50 to Doris, and also asked for help in setting up the event as Twin Towers will be MIA.

The Hare was iced and a good round of appreciation given to the hare and co-hares for a good run. The ON IN was announced at Melaka Raya, Restaurant Hiking, and the circle was closed.

The food was great and plentiful and the beers cold, with a spill over of members crowding into 4 tables. King Rat was toasted again for his tee shirts, and then Vibrator was thanked for doing a great job as MC and called up to say a few words. Several more on downs were called, with the GM coming out the worse for it. The hare sponsored two bottles per table and subsidized part of the food besides. All in all it was another great night of hashing See you next week..
