rehashed run 1806

Hash Run 1806

Location ORNA

Hares: Bugsy Malone and Guitar Chee

The run started around 6:05 due to tardiness of the GM and late start with the warm-ups. By then several Early Birds had already taken flight. The GM excused his late arrival as caused by stopping to offer assistance to Pekar. It seems Pekar was eagerly following a young lady, I’m assuming to convince her to go hashing, and ended up rear ending her. It was quite a nasty bump as her car was pushed into the back of a lorry, but the lady appeared to be functioning ok. Pekar’s car was somewhat the worse for the encounter, but it seems this is a rather common occurrence with this vehicle.

The trail started along the ORNA club boundary, with the first 100 meters or so tracking through the various rubbish scattered about. Once the rubbish was cleared there was a nice up and down scrag path for about 1 km. The trail then diverted onto a gravel road, where several early birds, including Holly and Helen of Troy were encountered. After climbing a rather steep hill the trail veered into the rubber plantation for the first check. This was a false trail which did its job and moved the FRB’s to the back of the pack.

On-On was eventually called and the trail resumed on a path at the edge of the rubber. At this stage Govind had taken the lead and looked to be poised for a FRB finish.

Over the next 2 km or so the trail cut into the rubber and meandered up and down, through the ditches, and generally sucked the energy out of the pack. By this time Ranger, Dennis the Menace, and a few others had managed to catch Govind who was no longer looking so spry.

The 2nd check was found by Ranger as the trail progressed into the oil palms and meandered up and down for a stint of about 2 km. Some where towards the end of this section of the trail the FRB’s caught up with Pandirajah, who looks to have recovered nicely from his recent leg injury. For the most part the trail stuck to the truck track allowing the FRB’s to put some distance on the rest of the pack.

The last and final check was a false trail into another rubber estate, in and out of few ditches and from there it was back into the oil palms again. The trail eventually spilled out onto the Bemban/Jasin highway with about 2.5 km to track back to the run site. At this point the hounds pack had pretty much run out of steam. Pandirajah kept the lead for the FRB’s and finished well ahead of the next runner. My clock indicated it took 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete the run, putting it at around 13 km to my mind, although the hare claimed otherwise.

Several of the usual FRB pack was noted to be out of gas at the finish. This included Ranger, who finished behind Dennis the Menace and was observed to be walking for the majority of the final stretch. Govind was dished at the end of the run by Bombastic for having all those toned muscles (reportedly he’s a regular at the Melaka club workout sessions these days) and dragging ass into the finish. Speedy Gonzales was not so speedy. Balan did his usual sweeper role and reported that he did not pass the last group headed by Cocker which had not returned. Long Bean and the hares were thanked or cursed, depending on the runner, for providing a very challenging trail.

Cocker and his band of misguided adventurers, which included Chickadee, Rena, Wee Wee, and Pubic Hair were still missing. It seems the SCB’s got off trail only to have the maestro’s newest release of the GPS throw him a curve. James Bond returned with this group on the intrail and Baby Elephant declared everyone back.

The circle started by icing Cocker for making everyone wait. Next up was Joe from New Jersey, who had been talked into the misadventure by Hendry. Pekar had arrived and was iced for the event as described earlier. Another newcomer, a handsome young Mat Salleh, courtesy of Cocker got to cool off next. At that point it was noticed that all the harriets except for Theresa had vanished. They were later found at the on in having been bathing and primping during the circle. Theresa sat the ice for all her peers. It turns out she couldn’t find her keys, that is probably the only reason she was still there. A few announcements were made and then next weeks hare, 4 C, explained the upcoming venue at Bertam Ulu. The co-hares were iced for doing a great job, and then all left for ORNA clubhouse to enjoy a spread of fine cuisine and ice cold beer.

ON ON.
