Rehashed Run No. 1812

Rehashed Run No: 1812; Hares: Daniel Lok (Camel) & Lee Sen Fatt (Kiasu); Date: 22nd September, 2009; Venue: Tong Bee Plantation, Machap.

Accompanying The Hares To Set A Tricky And Enjoyable Run

It was a sunny afternoon. As invited a week earlier, my partner and I met the hares and their co-hare Peter Looi at the familiar run site of oil palm plantation which is some 20 km east of Malacca city to accompany them to set their run.

It was at 4.00 pm that we set out to lay the running trail without recce (reconnaissance) after equipping ourselves with stacks of shredded white papers, 3 knives and a few bottles of drinking water. Led by veteran hasher, Peter Looi and hare Kiasu, the paper trail led east into the matured oil palm plantation on wide laterite road and meandered across a stream and uphill for some 30 minutes before the first tricky check was set beside a rock near the hill top where we could see the beautiful view of Durian Tunggal Dam downhill on the right. Its connecting paper was placed some 100 metres away uphill on a bushy path on the left. As usual, its motive was to catch and slow down the FRB such as GM Dennis the Menace, Dr. Pandyarajah, Govind and Ranger.

The paper trail then turned north across a ditch into the undulating terrains of a rubber and oil palm plantations for some 20 minutes before the second tricky check was placed at a busy path. Its connecting paper was placed at another bushy path some 150 metres ahead southward of the back trail.

The paper trail continued to meander upslope and down slope, and across 3 ditches through the rubber, mixed fruits and oil palm plantations for another some 20 minutes before the third and last simpler check was set at a cross junction. Its connecting paper was placed behind an oil palm tree some 100 metres away on the right. From then on, it was another some 20 minutes of zigzagging upslope and down slope in the oil palm plantation before arriving at a temple on top of a small hill at 5.30 pm. As the run site was just a short distance away and we were not suppose to be there before the run started at 6.00 pm, we took the opportunity to have a short rest there and chitchatting away. It was only at 5.55 pm that we departed for the run site down hill through the back of the temple. On the way, we saw a pack of scheduled runners led by FRB GM Dennis the Menace, Govind, Dr. Pandyaraja and 4896 starting their run. While at the run site some 15 minutes later, we saw the arrival of Vibrator who complained of swollen and painful left foot after being chased by a beautiful female ghost at the Bukit China Cemetery while jogging there the previous day. However, as a devoted hasher, it did not stop him from starting the run as last runner.

It was an undulating, windy and enjoyable run of some 6 km with tricky checks which caught FRB GM Dennis the Menace and Dr. Pandyaraja. The first runner 4896 was back at 7.00 pm closely followed by GM Dennis the Menace, long lost Ambah, Nanda, Govind and Dr. Pandyarajah. As time passed by, more runners trickled in. Among them were Super 96 (4896’s partner), Dr. Lingkun, Utom Singh, Pramjit Singh, Carol the Twin Towers, Helen of Troy, SYT, Capt. Tay, Hawaii Goh, Nancy, James Kuah, Killer Tony, Sexy Chan and 4 guests. The last runner was back at 7.20 pm when the sky was still bright. He is none other than late starter Vibrator.

Hash circle was conducted jointly by GM Dennis the Menace and Vibrator. In attendance were some 36 hashers who included 4 guests. As usual, a good number of sinners were put on ice and on-downed. Among them were the hares, co-hare, James Kuah, Orang Kaya Ngoh, Debbie, Baby Elephant, Helen of Troy, GM Dennis the Menace and Carol the Twin Towers. Nice to see Carol the Twin Towers back after missing for 7 weeks, for we really missed her so much!

On On was held at the nearby Mei Yan Restaurant in Machap Baru. It was well attended by some 40 hungry hashers. A 6-course delicious Chinese dinner which included a spicy wild boar dish was served. It was on the hares. Thanks. It ended at around 10.00 pm.

See you at the coming run of James Kuah at Padang Temu which is on the way to Umbai from Ujong Pasir!

On! On!
