Rehashed Run No: 1804; Hare: Theresa Ng; Date: 28th July, 2009; Venue: Air Panas, Bemban.
Accompanying The Hare And Co-hare To Set The Run
It was a fine Tuesday afternoon which was the MH3’s weekly running day. As invited by co-hare Killer Tony a week earlier, my partner and I left early for our meeting place in front of Patronas Patrol Station, Bemban after picking up Sexy Chan in Malim Jaya. Soon after the arrival of the hare, we proceeded to the familiar run-site at the entrance of Golden Valley Golf Club, Air Panas which is some 3 km away on the left of Bemban town after putting up the direction signboard at its T-junction. Whilst there, we were joined by Andy Lim, the hare’s loving partner.
It was at 4.10 pm that we started leaving the run-site to lay the paper trail for the run after putting up another signboard and equipping ourselves with a bottle of drinking water, a knife, a torch light and stack of white papers. Led by Killer Tony who was equipped with a GPS, the paper led north across the Bemban – Kesang Pajak Road into an oil palm plantation on a laterite road. As usual, while walking and setting the paper trail, we were engaged in telling cock and bull stories. After walking for some 40 minutes and on arrival at 2 big water pipes near the fringe of a housing estate beside the North – South Expressway, the first simple check was set. Its connecting paper was placed in a rubber plantation some 100 meters on the right of the back trail.
The paper continued to be set westward for another some 10 minutes in the rubber plantation at the fringe of the said housing estate before the second simple check was set on the right of a cross junction. Its connecting paper was placed some 100 away westward on the right of the back trail.
The third simple check was set another some 15 minutes later in another rubber estate after crossing a small bushy drain and a mixed fruit orchard where Andy Lim was treated with a ripe and tasty jack fruit. Like the previous check, its connecting paper was placed some 100 meters on the right of the back trail.
The fourth and last simple check was set another some 15 minutes later down a gentle slope in an oil palm plantation. Similar to the last check, its connecting paper was placed some 100 meters away on the right of the back trail. From then on, it was another some 1 hour’s walk zigzagging left, right and centre westward and northward across a couple of drains on shaky wooden poles and planks in the oil palm plantation and a long road run on the busy upper section of Bemban – Kesang Pajak Road before arriving back at the run-site at 6.30 pm where a number of non runners were waiting for the arrival of beer wagon. It was then that we saw late starter Vibrator taking off for the run.
It was a medium run of some 9 km through the flat terrains of scenic oil palm, mixed fruit and rubber plantations which took us some 2 hours and 20 minutes to set. The first runner was back at 7.10 pm. He is none other than Kacang Panjang. He was followed closely by Ranger, Govind, GM Dennis the Menace, Speedy Gonzales and a couple of energetic runners. More runners trickled in as time passed by. The last was late starter Vibrator at 7.40 pm when the sky began to fall dark.
Hash circle was well attended. It was conducted by GM Dennis the Menace. As usual, it saw a good number of sinners being put on-ice and on-downed. They included Kacang Panjang, Ranger, Speedy Gonzales, myself and guest runner John from United Kingdom.
On On was held at the Lai Dai Chinese Restaurant in Air Keroh Heights. It was well attended with 5 tables. A 6-course RM150-per-table Chinese dinner was served with beer. It was followed by another on-downed session for a good number of sinners. The food and drinks were on the hashers. It was at 10.30 pm that we began to disperse.
See you at the coming run of Albert Yong and Gilbert Chee at Gapam, fellow hashers!
On! On!
