Rehashed run 1835 - March 2, 2010

Rehashed Run No: 1835; Hare: Crystal How; Date: 2nd March, 2010; Venue: Bertam Ulu.

An Enjoyable Confusing Run

Crystal How is a charming harriet who has been a member of MH3 for a number of years. However, owing to her tight work schedules, she only turns up for the weekly run occasionally when time permits. As scheduled, come last Tuesday was her run on rotation. As expected, it had attracted a fairly big turnout which included a few guests from Orang Hutan Hash.

It was a cloudy and hot afternoon after a long spell of dry season. On my unusual late arrival at the run site at 5.40 pm with my partner, there were already a big pack of hashers there. Among them were Carol the Twin Towers, Killer Tony, SYT, Baby Elephant, Helen Of Troy, 4896, Super 96 and 3 guests from Orang Hutan Hash. They were seen preparing themselves for the impending run which was due to start at 6.00 pm.

As usual, as oldies longing for a good sweat-out, my partner and I started the run as early birds at 5.50 pm. This time, we were being accompanied by SYT and Helen Of Troy. We followed the paper which led north into the Genting Cheng Oil Palm Plantation for some 10 minutes before hitting the first confusing false trail with old papers of other runs near a T-junction in a rubber plantation. A spread-out search was conducted to no avail. It was only some 10 minutes later when we were joined by a few scheduled runners that led to the finding of its connecting paper a short distance away on the right. By then it had disheartened my partner and Helen Of Troy who chose not to accompany me to complete the run by taking a short cut back to the run site.

The paper continued to lead right across a farm house for a short distance for some 5 minutes before turning left into an open undulating open land where I met Sharp Shooter Robert who was making the back trail after sensing that it was going to be a tough run. It then hit 2 deep ditches which needed the assistance of fellow hashers to cross. A short distance ahead, it hit the first complicated check at a T-junction which grouped us together to conduct a spread-out search. Among us were Carol the Twin Towers. Hawaii Goh, Nancy, Holy, Peter Looi, Kiasu Lee, Albert, Camel Lok, 4896, Super 96 and Gabal. It took us some 5 minutes to find its connecting paper a short distance away on the left.

From then on, the paper continued to zigzag left, right and centre through the oil palm plantation, a vegetable farm, a rubber plantation, 2 more deep ditches and 3 more confusing checks before arriving back at the run site at 7.10 pm. As the checks and paper trails were confusing, a big number of us did not follow them by taking a short cut.

It was an enjoyable medium-run of some 7 km. Owing to its confusing nature, it had succeeded in grouping most of the runners together on the running trail. As Helen Of Troy, my partner and I left for our nearby home early to have shower, we did not attend the hash circle.

On In was held at the downtown Malacca Jonker Street Chicken Rice Ball Restaurant which is operated by the hare. It was well attended by some 40 hungry hashers. A 7-course unique delicious Chinese dinner was served with drinks. It was followed by an on-downed session conducted jointly by GM Dennis the Menace, Ex-GM Vibrator and Ex-GM Cocker. It saw a big number of us sinners including myself being on-downed for tripping and falling down while chasing after Carol the Twin Towers during the run in the absence of her partner GM Dennis the Menace and my partner Wonder Woman. A birthday cake was cut for a few of us who included Bombastic and myself who were born in the month of March. It was then announced that Malacca Sunday Hash House Harriers & Harriets would be holding its celebration Run No. 111 at Durian Tunggal at 2.30 pm on 6-3-2010. Hashers were invited to register and attend it. The dinner, which ended at around 10.45 pm, was on the hare. A big thanks!

See you at the coming run of Agnes Khoo at Lendu, fellow hashers!

On! On!
