Rehashed run 1830 - Dr. Dave and Kimmy

Rehashed Run No: 1830; Hares: Dr. Dave Kumar (Band Boy) & Kimmy Chua; Date: 26th January, 2010; Venue: Bemban.

Accompanying The Veteran Hare To Set An Enjoyable Medium Run

Dr. Dave Kumar and Kimmy Chua is a loving couple and veteran hashers whom I have known since I first joined the Malacca Hash House Hashers in 1991 after my job transfer from Kuala Lumpur to Malacca. Since then, they have been attending the weekly run quite regularly when the time permits.

As mentioned in my last write-up, it was their joint run on rotation yesterday. As expected, it had attracted the attendance of a big number of 47 hashers who included 2 guests.

It was a fine sunny Tuesday afternoon. As appointed a week earlier, my partner and I arrived early at the familiar run site by the side of Air Keroh – Bemban Road where we met Dr. Dave Kumar and co-hare Killer Tony. After equipping ourselves with a GPS, a bag of shredded white papers and a few bottles of drinking water, we set out to lay the running trail without recce at 3.25 pm led jointly by Dr. Dave Kumar and Killer Tony.

The paper trail was set southward on a tarred-road for a short distance before entering into a rubber plantation and meandering eastward and southward along the Duyong River for another short distance. It then led southwest across a bushy drain and uphill into an oil palm plantation for some 35 minutes before the first tricky check was set at a T-junction. Its connecting paper was placed on a bushy trail some 50 metres away on the left down slope.

The paper trail continued to be set down slope across a stream, uphill into another rubber and oil palm plantations for another some 20 minutes before arriving at a path some 50 metres after a T-junction where the second tricky check was set. Its connecting paper was placed some 100 metres away from the left of the said T-junction on the back trail.

The paper trail then continued to be set southward and eastward into another oil palm and rubber plantations for another some 15 minutes before arriving at a village where the third and last simple check was placed near another T-junction. Its connecting paper was placed a short distance away northward on the right. From then on, the paper setting continued to meander left, right and centre across a village in Tehil, a rubber and oil palm plantations abreast the outer fencing of Orna Golf Resort, a drain, a barbed-wire fencing, another oil palm plantation before exiting at the Air Keroh – Bemban Road near the abandoned Nyonya Baba Theme Park and arrived back at the run site at 6.55 pm where a small pack of non runners and SCB were hanging around chit-chatting while waiting for the beer wagon to arrive. Among them were Kiasu Lee, Horlicks, Bombastic and Garfield.

It was a medium run of 9 km as recorded by Killer Tony’s GPS through the friendly terrains of Bemban, Tehil and Gapam which took us 2 ½ hours to set. The first scheduled runner was back at 7.02 pm. He was none other than Ranger who was closely followed by Dr.Pandyarajah, Dirk Limann and Govind. More runners trickled in as time passed by. They included 4896, Super 96, ICI Chee, Gopal, Camel Lok, Albert, Rubbish Bui, Carol the Twin Towers, Hawaii Goh, Nancy, Helen of Troy, SYT and Kukah. The last runners were back at around 7.30 pm when the sky was still bright.

In the absence of GM Dennis the Menace who was busy with his work, the hash circle was conducted by his other half and Asst. On Sec., Carol the Twin Towers. As usual, it saw a number of sinners who included avid runner Ranger and a Pattaya harriet being put on ice and on-downed.

On In was held at the nearby Pao Thoong Restaurant in Bemban town. It was well attended with 4 tables fully occupied. A 6-course delicious Chinese dinner was served with a big flow of free beer and brandy sponsored by GM Dennis the Menace. Another on-downed session was conducted jointly by GM Dennis the Menace and On Sec. Chickadee. It saw a big number of sinners who included the hares being on-downed. It was then announced by:

Carol the Twin Towers that Malacca Sunday Hash House Harriers and Harriets (MSH4) would be holding its 111th Run on 6-3-2010 with the registration fee of RM 50.

Chickadee that Johor Bahru Hash House Harriers would be holding an invitation run on 24-4-2010 with the registration fee of RM 40.

Chickadee that Kukah had completed and won a medal in the recent Marathon Run in Singapore which he wanted to present to GM Dennis the Menace.

Those interested are advised to register early with the On Secretary and congratulations to GM Dennis the Menace for doing away with the general perception that hashers are drinkers with a running problem!

It was an enjoyable medium run with good food which was on the hares. A big thanks. It was at around 11.00 pm that we began to disperse with full tummy and smiling face.

See you at the coming run of Tok Ai Lian at Bertam Ulu, fellow hashers!

On! On!
